Northern Ireland Left Reeling After Brexit Vote

At Deutsche Welle, Peter Geoghegan writes about the impact Brexit could have on Northern Ireland, a U.K. region that voted to stay in the European Union. The EU was an important mediator of British-Irish tensions in the region, and some Irish politicians have expressed worries over Brexit’s impact on the Northern Ireland peace process. Geoghegan writes, “A referendum on Irish unification is unlikely in the short term. But the future of Northern Ireland is far more uncertain now than it has been for many years.”
