“I Told Her It Was Okay to Cry”: Shattered Families Gather at Orlando Hotel for News

Kevin Sullivan and Katie Zezima of The Washington Post report from a hotel near Orlando Medical Center, where families waited to find out news of their loved ones involved in the shooting at Pulse nightclub. The Rev. Jorge Figueroa, a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, was volunteering there as a chaplain. Of one grieving family member, he said, “I got down on the floor with her and held her … I looked her in the eye and spoke to her softly and calmly. I told her it was okay to cry.”
