Some of Boko Haram’s Most Dangerous Fighters Are Kids

At The Washington Post, Kevin Sieff reports that the most dangerous members of Boko Haram are children coerced into the terrorist organization. Adult leaders of the Islamist extremist group built an army of child soldiers through kidnapping, and they often force young girls to become suicide bombers, creating moral dilemmas for Nigeria’s military. Sieff notes that Thursday is the second anniversary since Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 girls in Nigeria. “Since 2014, a fifth of all Boko Haram suicide bombers have been children, according to a report from UNICEF released this week,” he writes.
