Sikh Actor Waris Ahluwalia: Education Must Follow Apology Over Turban Incident

Darius Johnson and Catherine E. Shoichet of CNN report that Sikh actor Waris Ahluwalia has called for an end to discriminatory policies after he was prevented from boarding his flight due to the turban he wears for religious reasons. Although Aeromexico offered him an apology and eventually allowed him to board the plane, Ahluwalia wants the airline to take steps to ensure that its employees are aware of religious attire during the security screening process. “Really, this is about education, about education of the Sikh religion, but also of other religions, and this is not just about me or Sikhs,” he said.
