Ted Cruz’s Evangelical Gamble

In The New York Times Magazine, Robert Draper writes on Ted Cruz’s new strategy of bringing out millions of new religious voters to win the Republican presidential nomination. Although Donald Trump continues to dominate the polls, Cruz believes he can overtake Trump if he can win the majority of grassroots evangelicals while ensuring they come out to vote. At Liberty University, Cruz said, “Today, roughly half of born-again Christians aren’t voting. They’re staying home. Imagine instead millions of people of faith all across America coming out to the polls and voting our values.”
