U.S. Justices Reject Arkansas Bid to Revive Abortion Law

Lawrence Hurley of Reuters reports, “The U.S. Supreme Court, which is due to hear arguments in March in an important abortion case from Texas, on Tuesday¬†rejected a bid by Arkansas to revive a state law blocked by a lower court that had banned abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy.” The St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that 2013 state law inhibited a woman’s right to obtain an abortion before the viability of the fetus.¬†“Arkansas cannot veto a woman’s decision to have an abortion, period,” said Talcott Camp of the ACLU. “This personal, medical decision rests with a woman, her family and her doctor, not politicians.”
