Bernie Sanders, Who Could Get Further than any Jewish Candidate for President, Has Just Opened up about his Jewishness

Michelle Boorstein of The Washington Post reports on an aspect of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders that has been largely absent from public debate: his faith. Boorstein writes, “Part of this is likely because Sanders has over the decades not spoken often about his Judaism, what he believes or practices, according to profiles of him.” Leader of advocacy and social justice for the Jewish Reform Movement Rabbi Jonah Pesner says, “What’s significant here is that we have a viable candidate for presidency who is not only Jewish but has a Brooklyn accent, and it’s not a big deal.”
