Who Boos an Opening Prayer?
posted on July 26, 2016Religion News Service’s David Gibson writes that Bernie Sanders supporters booed the Democratic National Convention’s opening prayer when the Rev. Cynthia Hale said Hillary Clinton’s name. Sanders previously asked his followers not to protest at the convention. Gibson writes, “Hale paused, and seemed to try to redirect the negativity with a quiet ‘Hallelujah.’ But the booing continued and then morphed into chants of ‘Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!’ ”
