The Global South’s Influence on Religion
posted on March 7, 2013Through a series of interviews, Bill McKenzie of The Dallas Morning News looks at the importance of the “Global South” in Christianity, a theme he believes to be central for the next papacy. Cynthia Rigby, a professor of theology at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, argues that the minority is now becoming the majority in Christianity: “The dominant culture is quickly becoming the minority culture, in Christendom. Those who have historically been marginalized are growing in numbers and in strength, and in their capacity to shape Christianity today and into the future.”
