The Forgotten War In Sudan

At TIME, Elizabeth Dias reports on the conflict in Sudan that has continued to plague the country, even after the secession of South Sudan due to sectarian violence. While Sudan has been trying to sway the West, the government has continued to violate human rights and use government troops against its own citizens. “You have a failed state, and you split it into two. What do you get?” asks Omer Ismail, a senior adviser for the nonprofit Enough project, which aims to end crimes against humanity. “You get two failed states.”
