Survey: More than Four in 10 Americans Support Controversial Contraception Mandate

Sarah Pulliam Bailey reports for Religion News Service on a new poll from the Public Religion Research Institute. The poll gathered data on public opinion of the mandate requiring “nonprofits and businesses to provide birth control even if they have religious objections.” Pulliam Bailey writes that the poll shows majority support for public and private corporations’ obligation to provide birth control for their employees in spite of religious objections, even while “a majority (54 percent) of Americans believe that the right of religious liberty is being threatened.”
