Rev. Robert H. Schuller, “Hour of Power” Evangelist, Dies at 88

Stuart Lavietes of The New York Times reports that the Rev. Robert H. Schuller, one of television’s first preachers and founder of the Crystal Cathedral, passed away Thursday at the age of 88. Dr. Schuller, who helped usher in a new form of mainstream Protestantism by preaching faith as a solution to personal problems, was one of the first founders of a megachurch and became the most popular television preacher in the 1980s.Lavietes writes that “for more than 40 years Dr. Schuller was an apostle of positive thinking and a symbol of success.”
