posted on October 13, 2015In the New York Review of Books, President Obama sits down with author Marilynne Robinson to talk about her latest collection of essays, discussing the role of faith in democracy. Robinson says, “It seems to me as if democracy is the logical, the inevitable consequence of this kind of religious humanism at its highest level.” Obama observes, “There’s all this goodness and decency and common sense on the ground, and somehow it gets translated into rigid, dogmatic, and often mean-spirited politics.”
