New Evidence on When Bible Was Written: Ancient Shopping Lists

The New York Times‘ Isabel Kershner reports that artifacts found near the Dead Sea suggest that the first part of the Bible may have been written much earlier than originally thought. A new analysis of the handwriting found on recently unearthed pottery indicated that literacy was much more widespread than previously thought, meaning that the composition of the Bible could have occurred earlier than 600 B.C., the date usually associated with the earliest written text of the Christian Holy Book.
