Most Religious Americans Support a Pathway to Citizenship

According to a new PRRI survey, “a majority of all major religious groups in the United States … support a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants currently living in the country,” Dan Merica of CNN reports. This support has grown significantly in recent years, which has led to more immigration negotiations in Congress. Merica writes that religious support for immigration is rooted in how they perceive the issue: “Treating immigration as a moral issue, instead of solely a policy issue, is an argument that religious organizations have long used while lobbying congress for reform.”
