Mormons’ Distaste for Donald Trump Puts Utah up for Grabs
posted on August 9, 2016In The New York Times, Alan Rappeport writes that Mormon disapproval of Donald Trump may give Hillary Clinton a chance to win in Utah. No Democratic presidential nominee has won in Utah since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. Rappeport writes, “For a religious group that was driven to Utah during the 19th century in the face of persecution, Mr. Trump’s calls for religious tests and a ban on Muslim migration echo a painful past, leaving some wondering if they will be next.”
