Md. Student Slain In Egypt Was “Trying To Make The World A Better Place,” Friends Say

Dana Hedgpeth and Stefanie Dazio of The Washington Post report on the death of American Andrew D. Pochter in the midst of the anti-government protests in Egypt. According to his family and friends, Pochter, 21, was stabbed by a protestor while witnessing the demonstrations as a bystander. Active in his Jewish faith at Kenyon College, Pochter “had a natural curiosity about the world and a love of language, and he wanted to work in the Middle East in hopes of pursuing peace and understanding.”
