The St. Louis Post-Dispatch‘s Ashley Lisenby writes, “A day before delivering a check to help restoration efforts at a Jewish cemetery in University City, a Muslim social justice advocate met with local Jewish leaders to talk about ways the two groups can combat hatred and ignorance together.” On Wednesday, activist Tarek El-Messidi spoke alongside Andrew Rehfeld, head of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, at an event hosted by Washington University in St. Louis’s John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, publisher of this journal. “Both Rehfeld and El-Messidi encouraged people to put inflammatory political rhetoric and fear aside to get to know someone of a different faith by sharing meals or introducing themselves to a neighbor,” Lisenby writes.
