In Pre-Primary Pivot to Right, Walker Shifts Tone on Abortion

In The New York Times, Trip Gabriel reports on Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s apparent shift on social issues like abortion and same-sex marriage. Because of his fight with labor unions, Walker has often been portrayed as a governor singularly concerned with economic questions and unwilling to be distracted by social issues, Gabriel writes. “But the governor is also making an aggressive effort to win the hearts of the party’s Christian conservatives,” Gabriel continues—entering the culture war in an effort to get the broadest possible conservative coalition behind him for 2016.
