Church-State Separationist James Dunn Dead at 83

Religion News Service’s Adelle M. Banks reports that the Rev. James M. Dunn, an American religious liberty advocate who defended the separation of church and state for 20 years, died of a heart attack on Saturday in his North Carolina home at the age of 83. Dunn achieved several legal victories, including “the Equal Access Amendment of 1984, which allows students to gather for prayer before and after the school day,” Banks writes.
