Catholic Bishops Challenge Donald Trump on Immigration

The New York Times’ Laurie Goodstein reports that Catholic bishops are preparing to defend immigrants and refugees after Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election. Although many bishops agree with Trump’s pro-life and anti-gay marriage platform, they are dedicated to helping Latinos, who make up more than one-third of American Catholics. Archbishop José H. Gomez, who was recently elected as vice president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops said, “We are not this kind of people. We are better than this.”
