Boy Scouts of America Delay Vote on Ending Ban on Gays

Despite growing anticipation around Wednesday’s vote to end its controversial ban on gay membership, board members of the Boy Scouts of America have decided to delay the decision until May, reports Marice Richter at Reuters. In a statement, the Boy Scouts said, “[Due] to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy.” Upon hearing the news, Jennifer Tyrrell, a gay-rights activist, responded, “A scout is supposed to be brave, and the Boy Scouts failed to be brave today.”
