ACLU and Other Groups Present Legal Challenge to House Bill 2

The Charlotte Observer reports that several groups will mount a legal challenge to North Carolina’s House Bill 2. The bill prohibits local municipalities from enacting their own anti-discriminatory measures and requires that they adopt the state’s law on the issue. “More than 200 cities, including Myrtle Beach and Columbia, South Carolina, have adopted nondiscrimination ordinances similar to Charlotte’s without negative consequences,” the litigants said in a statement.
