Pentagon Bars Discrimination Against Gays, Lesbians in Uniform

At Reuters, David Alexander reports that the Pentagon has banned discrimination in the military based on sexual orientation. This update to the Pentagon’s equal opportunity policy was announced on Tuesday at a gay and lesbian pride celebration. “The change brought the rules into conformity with the 2011 decision to end the military’s ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy, which allowed gays and lesbians to serve in the military only if they did not openly acknowledge their sexual orientation,” Alexander writes.
