Three Muslims Killed in Shooting Near UNC; Police, Family Argue over Motive​

In The Washington Post, Sarah Kaplan and Mark Berman report that Craig Stephen Hicks has been charged with shooting and killing three Muslims near the University of North Carolina. An initial investigation by the police indicates that the shooting stemmed from a parking argument, the authors report, but many on social media believe that the victims’ religion was a factor. “We understand the concerns about the possibility that this was hate-motivated and we will exhaust every lead to determine if that is the case,” Chapel Hill Police Chief Chris Blue said in a statement.
