Muslim World Cup Players Face Ramadan Decision

At Reuters, Philip O’Connor reports on the upcoming decision that Muslim soccer players will have as the beginning of Ramadan coincides with the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup. Ramadan’s required fasting could make it challenging for players to maintain appropriate hydration, energy, and muscle-mass levels while competing. Germany’s Mesit Ozil said, “Ramadan starts on Saturday, but I will not take part because I am working.”
