More Religious Groups Join Suit to Overturn NC Same-Sex Marriage Ban

WRAL reports on the addition of more religious groups to the lawsuit that the United Church of Christ filed to strike down North Carolina’s gay marriage ban. On Tuesday, Baptist and Jewish groups, as well as the priests of the All Souls Episcopal Cathedral in Asheville, NC, joined the suit. According to Rabbi Steven Fox, chief executive of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, “Depriving rabbis of the freedom to conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies in North Carolina stigmatizes our religious beliefs and relegates many of our congregants and community members to second-class status.”
