Following Bobby Jindal’s commencement speech at Liberty University last weekend, Tom Hamburger of The Washington Post interviewed the Louisiana governor. Jindal explained his conversion from Hinduism to Catholicism: “I got baptized in Providence (without family present) out of respect for my parents. I didn’t want to cause them any more heartache than I had already caused. It wasn’t easy. I can talk about it now that they have accepted it and we are very close.” Jindal is also a fan of Pope Francis, who he says “brings a great charisma and energy.”
