Kidnapped Nigerian School Girls Reportedly Sold as Brides to Islamic Boko Haram Militants

CBS News reports on the kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls, who are reportedly being sold into marriage to their abductors. Halite Aliyu of the Borne-Yobe people’s forum said that latest reports indicate that the girls are being sold for 2,000 naira ($12) and being transported across the border, sometimes to Chad or Cameroon. “Life [in northeastern Nigeria] has become nasty, short and brutish. We are living in a state of anarchy,” Aliyu said.
