Pa. Couple Face Prison After Sons’ Prayer Deaths

The Associated Press reports that a Pennsylvania couple was sentenced from three and a half to seven years in prison, after failing to seek help for their dangerously ill son. Herbert and Catherine Schaible pleaded no contest to third-degree murder in their son’s death from pneumonia. The couple are members of a small Pentecostal community that believes in faith healing. During the verdict, Philadelphia Commons Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner said, “You’ve killed two of your children … not God, not your church, not religious devotion — you.”
