Supreme Court Won’t Hear Va.’s Appeal on Sodomy Law

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the Supreme Court will not hear an appeal of a ruling that voided Virginia’s anti-sodomy law, meaning it is officially struck down. Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli had argued the law prohibited adult solicitation of minors to engage in sodomy, but the appeals court rejected that interpretation. “We look forward to working with the General Assembly to ensure that this unenforceable law is repealed and replaced with rational and fair laws that will both protect our children and ensure the rights of consenting adults,” said Rebecca Glenberg, legal director of the ACLU of Virginia.
