Iran Says It Wants to Resolve Nuclear Row within Months

Louis Charbonneau and Yeganeh Torbati of Reuters report that Iran’s new government wants to resolve its nuclear dispute with the West and create a deal in just three to six months. Addressing the United Nations, President Hassan Rouhani said that nuclear weapons “have no place in Iran’s security and defense doctrine, and contradict our fundamental religious and ethical convictions.” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif added, “The Islamic Republic has the political readiness and political will for serious negotiations and we are hopeful that the opposite side has this will as well.”
