At The New Yorker, Dexter Filkins analyzes Qassem Suleimani, the Iranian agent working as a power broker and military force in the Middle East to rebuild the Sunni-dominated region into a Shiite sphere of influence.  “Suleimani is the single most powerful operative in the Middle East today,” John Maguire, a former C.I.A. officer in Iraq, said, “and no one’s ever heard of him.”
