Pope Condemns Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria

Daniel Burke of CNN reports that as President Barack Obama gathers support for military intervention in Syria, Pope Francis has called for a peaceful resolution to the civil war. Although Francis tweeted, “War never again! Never again war!” he condemned the actions of the Syrian government. “With utmost firmness I condemn the use of chemical weapons: I tell you that those terrible images from recent days are burned into my mind and heart. There is a judgment of God and of history upon our actions which are inescapable!”
