Perry Signs Abortion Bill into Law
Shefali Luthra of the Texas Tribune reports Governor Rick Perry signed into law on Thursday morning the controversial House Bill 2, which bans abortions at 20 weeks and imposes strict regulations on providers. Several dozen abortion rights activists gathered around the capitol building to protest, and groups such as the ACLU of Texas are considering litigation to block the law. Governor Perry said, “Today’s signing definitely builds upon our continued commitment to protecting life in the state of Texas.”
