Trayvon Martin “Not Guilty” Verdict Sparks Hoodie Sunday At Black Churches

Paul Brandeis Raushenbush of The Huffington Post reports that after George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the death of Trayvon Martin, some black pastors called on their congregations to wear hoodies to church on Sunday morning. Reverend Mike McBride, who wore a hoodie with the words “Alive and Free,” said his congregation is going “to be talking about humanizing the dehumanized and amplifying the value of life for all people, but especially our young black men.” McBride continues, “We need to talk about how the justice system continues to fail black bodies.”
