Hopeful and Relieved, Conservative White Evangelicals See Trump’s Win as Their Own

The Washington Post’s Julie Zauzmer reports on white evangelical Christians’ optimism in the wake of Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election. Although many Christians felt apprehensive about Trump’s personal values and religiosity, many white evangelicals supported him for his anti-gay marriage and pro-life stances. Scott Risvold, a military veteran who retired from service last year, said, “People wanted to vote for Hillary because they’re like, ‘Trump is a bigot.’ He is! But Hillary is 10 times worse.”
