“A Pope Francis Catholic”: Now that Tim Kaine is Clinton’s VP Pick, Will his Faith Matter?

At The Washington Post, Michelle Boorstein and Julie Zauzmer write that it remains unclear whether Hillary Clinton’s selection of Tim Kaine, who is Catholic, as her running mate will sway Catholic voters in the election. Though Catholics tended to vote Democrat in the past, their voter habits are now better predicted by ethnicity than religion. Boorstein and Zauzmer write, “Kaine’s attention to his faith has become well-known over his years in office, first as Virginia’s governor and then as a senator.”
