At The Washington Post, Jenna Johnson writes about the formulation of Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric. She reports that Trump and his aides began discussing his so-called Muslim ban last year after the terrorist attacks in Paris, and they decided to announce it just after the San Bernardino attack. While the nativist rhetoric has benefited Trump among a subset of Republicans, Johnson writes that “the idea is largely opposed by Americans overall.”
