The Fate of the Religious Right May Be Foretold in Iowa

At Slate, Michelle Goldberg reports on the waning influence of the Religious Right in the Republican Party as evangelicals continue to support Donald Trump. “If the leaders of the Christian right can’t stop Trump, it could mark the end of the movement as we know it,” Goldberg writes. Jenifer Bowen, head of Iowa Right to Life, says, “All of the so-called rules for how presidential candidacies run seem to have flown out the window. He’s just come in and flipped the tables.”
