The Duel

In The New Yorker, Ryan Lizza writes on the clash between Republican Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, and how the outcome will affect the future of the Republican Party.  “Trump would make the G.O.P. the party of racial and religious exclusion,” wrote Michael Gerson, a Danforth Center Advisory Board member, whose article Lizza quotedLizza also spoke to Pentecostal Christian Joanna Patterson on the campaign trial. He writes: “She conceded that Trump was not religious … But she liked him because he showed ‘strength’ … She explained that forthrightness, more than any particular issue, was at the foundation of her own religion.”
